Every time you visit the art districts of McKinney, Denton, Frisco, Plano, or Dallas—whether you buy art, enjoy a meal, or stay the weekend—you’re contributing to a powerful economic engine.

These cities have learned to harness the creative economy: turning cultural experiences into millions in local revenue, tourism, and state tax returns. Dallas alone generates $980 million annually, with $238 million flowing back into state coffers. McKinney’s 2024 art district ROI reached $14 million from $23 million in cultural spending. Denton’s art economy now makes up 38% of its total economic output.Anna Art Council understands this financial relationship between artists, art enthusiasts, and local development.

Our mission is to give Anna the same opportunity—to create jobs, support artists, and drive foot traffic to local businesses. We envision a thriving art district that celebrates our hundreds of local creatives, ready to sell, teach, and host events that bring our community together.With 4th Street Art LLC as our for-profit activation partner, we’re building a public-private ecosystem that positions Anna as the next official Texas Arts & Culture Designation. For three years, Anna Art Council has quietly laid the groundwork. Now, the time has come to launch our initiatives and invite the community to join us.

Anna is thriving and experiencing rapid growth, but with that comes the risk of losing our unique charm and neighborliness. As our population has skyrocketed from 2,500 to 35,000, we’ve yet to fully embrace the conversation Arts & Culture. Artists today are not just creators; we are business owners, educators, and professionals who contribute significantly to our community. Thanks to initiatives like Anna Artists & Creatives and the Anna Art Council, we are taking the first steps toward establishing Anna's very own Art District, enriching our community and celebrating our shared creativity.

Our Initiatives & Funding

Art District Designation is a highky complex system of leadership, experts, and artists- working together to prove Anna has the talent and readiness to apply.

At its core, artists must revitalize a historical area, visible from the street, walkable, and housing artists and art nonprofits, whose revenue is at least $50k for at least one year and attracts tourism with events, shopping, and public art installations; which brings art-enthusiast crowds to shop at nearby businesses, stay in local hotels, and whose sales and presence are monitored, tracked, and measured.
