Spotlight Art Auction
The Spotlight Art Auction is Anna’s first artist‑centered exhibition and auction series — a program designed to introduce our community to the incredible creative talent living right here in our city. Each Spotlight event features one artist and one cohesive collection, giving residents the rare opportunity to experience an artist’s work the way it was meant to be seen: as a story.
Every collection showcased in the Spotlight series reflects life in Anna — our landscapes, our history, our people, and the personal experiences that shape what “home” means to each artist. By focusing on one creator at a time, the Spotlight Art Auction allows the community to truly connect with the artist behind the work, understand their perspective, and appreciate the role local art plays in telling Anna’s story.
This series is more than an auction. It is a celebration of local talent, a platform for emerging and established artists, and an essential step in building trust, visibility, and support for the future of arts and culture in Anna. Each Spotlight event helps demonstrate the value of local art, strengthens our case for public art funding, and moves us closer to a thriving Arts & Culture District.

Anna Arts Council invites local artists to take the Spotlight Challenge to create a 5-10 piece collection that tells the story of historic Anna or Anna's story from your unique view. Tell your story, show your art, and give our local community the opportunity to own one of Anna's signature pieces of art. When the auction arrives, enjoy watching your talent generate buzz while our community learns the incredible importance of supporting our creative neighbors. We open our Made in Anna Shop to you, to sell your original artwork, prints, and merch while maintaining a website page all your own to market, promote, teach, and sell your work.

Birds on a Wire- Aubre' Murphy
“Birds on a Wire” is a whimsical tribute to the way Anna, Texas has begun to feel like home for Aubre. Perched along the rim of the town’s iconic water tower, a row of North Texas birds appears to pause their own flight to hitch a ride skyward, as if they have discovered a gentler way to touch heaven for a while. The painting grew from an early morning when a hot air balloon unexpectedly floated above Anna the day after Aubre’s family arrived, a sight that felt out of place yet perfectly timed, quiet and peaceful against the open sky. Here, birds—which recur throughout this collection—symbolize freedom, wonder, and the thin space between earth and sky, while the imagined balloon ride captures the dream of drifting above it all and letting someone else do the flying. Nestled among familiar summer species, even the rival cardinal makes an appearance, a playful nod to local sports loyalties and to the Coyote spirit of Anna—resilient, proud, and joyfully at home in this small Texas town.
